  Image Description:

Not a lot of water was flowing over Sgwd Yr Eira on this particular morning. I started walking at 5:40am from Cwm Porth in Ystradfellte. I got to the waterfall 20 minutes before sunrise. I walked most of the way down the river bank just using a head torch until I reached the steps down to Sgwd Yr Eira. This waterfall can be found on the lower reaches of the Afon Hepste before it joins with the Afon Mellte which runs through Cwm Porth and Ystradfellte. Afon Mellte is born from the joining of the Afon Dringarth which runs from Ystradfellte Reservoir and Afon Llia which is the water run off from Fan Llia Cwm. This area is commonly referred to as The Waterfall Country and is based in The Brecon Beacons National Park.
